From an early age, Kayo was gifted with two parents who both had incredible quirks. His father contained an incredible hold over pure darkness while his mother controlled light like it was silk in a sowing machine. When he was around the age of five, his parents got into a vicious fight which left him an orphan.
The Fight awoke something in Kayo that day in which he promised to only his quirks to help others. His grandma took care of him and tried to teach him how to take care of his precious quirk.
He got recruited at a young age into the U-A youth groups due to the raw potential of his quirk but never had to train as hard as other kids. The more he used his quirk, the more he learned about its weaknesses which included uncontrollable vomiting.
His raw power from his quirk allowed him to quickly shoot up the ranks of students but he still remains mostly to himself. The school offered him a place to belong which he never really had since his parent's incident.

Quirk Explanation: Light and Dark- The user can create objects such as weapons out of pure light while being able to construct hard light for defensive purposes. The light can be absorbed from any kind of light such as a school light or even the sun.
The second part of his quirk gives him control over an area shrouded in the darkness where he could torture an enemy inside it by forcing them to do his will through a variety of unhealthy means. This was his father's quirk which latched itself to Kayo's vengeful side.
Overuse of either quirk will cause kayo to have to uncontrollable puke on the ground without control or an end in sight. At first, the weakness made him pass out from puking so much but he has a better handle on it now.
